I felt good today.
Not great. But good. And my fitness has improved. For the first time I was able to run fairly hard throughout the full two hours. This is pretty exciting for me because in the past I have really struggled, particularly in the last 30 minutes.
Tonight my legs are sore (as they always are after a longish run) … but I suspect I will feel much better tomorrow. Usually I am wrecked the day after, so we will just have to see.
Another thing that usually happens after a long run is that I eat myself senseless. Today was no exception … why do I do it?
I have come to realize that getting in superb shape is a game of consistency and micro-increments. So I will just try to make tiny adjustments and hope that they add up.
Tomorrow, I’ll take things easy and try to relax, walk, do some dynamic stretching … and above all, sleep as much as I can.
