It’s been so hot at night lately that I haven’t been sleeping well at all.
Add to that some rowdy neighbours and I’m starting to miss my rest big time! Sleep is when we recover. Without it all other initiatives are in vain. But anyone whose not sleeping knows you can’t always miraculously change all that.
So today I worked hard, studied hard … and tried to relax.
My main focus was on a gentle swim. No matter how good your nutrition is, your joints still need daily, regular movement. Gravity conspires with poor posture and hard training to compress joints.
So every day you need to mobilize every joint in your body. Surrounding your joints are self-contained “pockets” of tissue called joint capsules. These contain a lubricating fluid that reduces friction and cushions the joint from impact.
This synovial fluid also contains nutrients that keep the joint alive and functioning through full range of movement. Mobilization is what decompresses the joint and bathes it in fresh, nutrient-rich fluid.
This is one reason I love swimming. Supported against the whims of gravity, your body can move easily through its full natural range of motion. Joints rejuvenate, pain diminishes … and life is restored.
So this is your daily movement “prescription”, along with adequate quality sleep, relaxation, emotional maturity, whole foods, sunshine and fresh air.
A tall order in this day and age!
